Andrea and Mike’s vibrant pink summer wedding turned out perfectly. With gorgeous pink florals and accents throughout, the color scheme flowed flawlessly. We are happy to share their wedding with you!
What was your proposal like?
It was my birthday and I thought he was going to have to work (he works second shift), so it was a series of surprises. The first surprise was that he came to pick me up from work. Next surprise was a birthday party for me at his mom’s house! And finally when I blew out the candles everyone emphasized to close my eyes. When I turned around he was down on one knee!
What was something fun that you did with your wedding party?
I “proposed” to my bridesmaids with a makeup themed box, since I’m a makeup artist/makeup addict. It said “I’m going to be the blushing bride, so I hope you can makeup your mind, will you be my bridesmaid!” It had a bunch of makeup in the box like blush, lipstick, a makeup sponge, chapstick, etc.
What was most helpful in the planning process?
My mom! I couldn’t have done it without her.
What was most helpful on the day of the wedding?
Honestly, everyone. Anything I needed, if staff wasn’t there to help, then a bridesmaid or my mom or even my cousin helped me at one point.
What was your favorite moment of the wedding day (if you had to pick just one)?
The first look. My emotions were everywhere but finally getting to see him put me at ease (to some degree).
What was going through your mind when you saw your significant other for the first time that day?
Relief! I was so happy to just see him!
What made you cry?
Everything. I cried pretty much all day!
What would you do differently?
Absolutely nothing. The day was perfect and all the small imperfections just made it more special and our day.
Leading up, what moment was most important to you?
Walking down the aisle is something every bride dreams of her whole life. I found the perfect song and had both my dad and step dad walk me down.
What was something unique that you did?
It was a bilingual wedding, so my brother officiated and we had my husband’s sister translate. We also had a mix of English and Spanish music!
What moment was most important for you to have captured by the photographer?
The family photos; family is so important to both of us.
What was your favorite design detail?
Just seeing my vision come to life with my color scheme. I loved it.
What made you laugh? Did you have an unforgettable funny moment?
When my uncle went in the middle of the dance “pit.” It was hysterical!
What surprised you?
How tired I got and how early!
What advice would you give to couples who are currently in the planning process?
I would say the most important thing is on the day of your wedding, just try and keep calm. Something like rain, for example, you cannot control. It rained all day while we got ready and thankfully the rain cleared out just in time for our outdoor ceremony. But if it hadn’t, I didn’t freak out or anything, I just would have had my ceremony inside instead. At the end of the day you get to marry the love of your life and that’s all that matters.
What is something you wished someone would have told you in preparation for your wedding day?
I’ve heard to make sure to take it all in and be IN the moment. It’s still something I struggled with. There’s so much going on and you are being pulled 12 directions at once at any given moment.
