How did you meet?
We actually met at a wedding! Matt was a server at the banquet hall at the time and I was a guest attending the wedding. My friend orchestrated a double date, with us, Matt and the bartender.
What was your proposal like?
It was such a surprise! We were taking a trip up north and stopped in Central Park, NY for dinner reservations. Prior to dinner we walked around Central Park and he surprised me and proposed on Bow Bridge. It was just the two of us and it was perfect. The best part was a couple from Argentina saw everything happening and took a picture and sent it to us! It is something I will always remember and appreciate!
What made you laugh? Did you have an unforgettable funny moment?
I was obsessed with the idea of taking pictures with the alpacas on the farm during our wedding photos. I wasn’t sure what we were going to get, as animals can be unpredictable. We ended up getting so close and I even left with alpaca footprints on my dress. Not something my mom was happy about, but I thought it was funny.
What was your favorite moment of the wedding day (if you had to pick just one)?
I really loved our ceremony – the scenery and weather was the most perfect day I could ask for. We got married in the fall, and all the foliage was filled with beautiful colors and there were cows behind us. Since our friend was the officiant, we were a part of planning the ceremony. We wrote our own vows and did a flower exchange ceremony which was really special.
What was most helpful on the day of the wedding?
Our venue provided us with a day of wedding coordinator. Tyler was assigned to our wedding, and he was amazing. He was literally everywhere, making sure everything was running perfectly. Whether he was setting up for the ceremony, bringing hors d’oeuvres to us during family portraits, and always making sure the bride and groom had food and drinks throughout the night!
What advice would you give to couples who are currently in the planning process?
Things are going to go wrong while planning. You are really juggling the biggest party you have ever thrown – so many moving pieces. Just have a checklist, and take one thing at a time. And on the day of the wedding, just let it go. You have done everything you have done up to this point and you have to trust your vendors. Allow yourself to just be in the day and not worry about all of the little things. Actually take in the moment to see everything you have planned come together as the day goes really fast! If you have the option to add an hour – definitely do so!
