Modern and Rustic, Chic and Romantic: Stephanie and David’s Spring Wedding

Although most are in the thick of fall weddings; Spring wedding couples are starting to nail down some very important details. This May wedding is great inspiration. With the mix of modern and rustic; chic and romantic, Stephanie and David’s day hit every mark of a perfect spring wedding. These images, photographed by Adore vendor Nina Lily, showcase the authentic and raw love between the couple and their friends and family.

How did you meet?

On Match!!! After we both had our fair share of horrible dates, we took the chance on one on a cold, snowy, Febuary (9th) in 2013.

What was your proposal like?

The day he graduated with his MBA, we planned dinner at our favorite restaurant with my mom and his parents to celebrate. His “speech” talking about his MBA journey that started with taking the GMATS (we met for drinks the night he took his test)….to today when he graduated. The speech turned into a proposal!!!!!!

What advice would you give to couples who are currently in the planning process?

Breathe, take one day at a time. You can only prepare so much. Worry about the details that are important to you; but you can’t worry about all of them. Pick your battles of what is important to have/do (when it comes to staying in budget). Most importantly – make sure the day is a reflection of you and your partner. It’s about you two; no one else. It’s not a day you need to worry about impressing anyone.

What was most helpful on the day of the wedding?

Being super organized; I had planned out the day in my head and on paper for weeks before; thinking of everything to pack, do, prep for. This helped really enjoy the day getting ready and “be in the moment”. I was calm, not stressing, and enjoying the day of family/friends. This just set up the day perfectly to really enjoy the whole experience!

What surprised you?

I know they said the day goes by so fast; but I don’t think you really know how “fast” it does until you live it. We tried to reflect, step back during several points of the night to help “take it in”. That helped but boy, did it fly by!!

What was most helpful in the planning process?

PINTEREST and ETSY!!!!!

What was going through your mind when you saw your significant other for the first time that day?

OMG this is it. Boy does he look handsome. I hope I don’t trip/fall (during our “first look”).

Leading up, what moment was most important to you?

Being “in the moment” all day with my husband by my side.

What would you do differently?

Absolutely nothing!

What made you laugh? Did you have an unforgettable funny moment?

I think we were laughing the whole time!

What was something fun that you did with your wedding party?

We had an after party onsite that was a great way to spend time with everyone, to relax, and reflect on the amazing day!

What made you cry?

Our entire ceremony! More specifically; reading the vows we wrote for each other.

What was something unique that you did?

I had special touches remembering my dad; who passed away 7 years ago. We had the 1st chair set aside for him with his picture; the cross from his necklace he would always wear was tied to me bouquet; my mom sewed a ‘blue’ heart using one of his favorite shirts; and pinned it inside my dress. Lastly, I walked down the aisle by myself, but Craig & Nyke played Elvis ‘Can’t help falling in love with you’. My dad was a huge Elvis fan so it was my way of ‘walking down the aisle’ with him.

What was your favorite design detail?

I loved our personal details we worked on for months….between all of the signage, our marble place setting tiles, the copper centerpieces we made, it was amazing seeing it all come together. I think my ABSOLUTE favorite was the card ‘house’ my husband made.

hat moment was most important for you to have captured by the photographer?

Candid photos of us and our family/friends throughout the day. I didn’t want them to be “posey” but very organic and “real”.

What was your favorite moment of the wedding day (if you had to pick just one)?

Dancing to our favorite songs and looking around and seeing every single person that means so much in our lives; smiling/laughing and having a blast! My heart was exploding with so much joy.

What is something you wished someone would have told you in preparation for your wedding day?

I got a lot of great advice. That’s the benefit of being one of the last couples to get married. We felt pretty prepared.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? I am sure it was nice to relax after all your planning!

Bermuda!!!! We love to cruise, so we made it a point to book a cruise to Bermuda. It was perfect.

The combination of modern and rustic; chic and romantic throughout Stephanie and David’s Spring wedding was flawless. Thank you for sharing your very special day with us!
