Micro-weddings are an up and coming trend that we absolutely ADORE. Elizabeth and Brandon celebrated their special and big love with a micro-wedding at the stunning Promise Ridge.
How did you meet?
We were introduced through mutual friends. Our friends thought we would be a good match and casually told us about each other! Eventually, they invited us both out to the same place for drinks one night. By the end of the night Brandon asked for my number and when he could take me out to dinner. We’ve been together ever since!
What was your proposal like?
Brandon’s a huge Steelers fan, so Pittsburgh is somewhere close to our hearts that we love to visit. We were in Pittsburgh for New Year’s Eve to see a Steelers game and he proposed outside of Heinz Field on the day before New Year’s Eve! We were walking around after dinner and Brandon told me to take a picture. When I was getting my phone ready to take our picture, he had gotten down on one knee!
What advice would you give to couples who are currently in the planning process?
You don’t need to go all out to make your day special. We kept our wedding very simple and it was absolutely perfect!
What was most helpful in the planning process for your micro-wedding?
With having a microwedding, it was important for us to not feel rushed on our big day. Maggie J (our photographer) was so organized and prepared. She had a timeline making sure to include enough time for all the photos that were important to us. She did a great job keeping us on schedule.
Leading up, what moment was most important to you?
We wanted Brandon’s deceased mother incorporated in our ceremony and Alisa prepared a beautiful tribute to her.
What was most helpful on the day of the micro-wedding?
I was worried with it being so hot outside but Alisa was very accommodating in making sure our family was comfortable.
What moment was most important for you to have captured by the photographer?
Our first look. I remember feeling nervous all day leading up to getting to see Brandon again. It was a special moment between the two of us that Maggie was able to capture.
What was going through your mind when you saw your significant other for the first time that day?
For Brandon, it was excitement that he was going to marry his best friend. I felt comfort being able to see Brandon again and happiness that we were finally about to get married.
What was your favorite design detail?
We loved the natural beauty at our venue. The Living Wall at Promise Ridge is so gorgeous on its own that the only flowers we needed were my bouquet.
What was something unique that you did?
The ring blessing that Alisa suggested. Our rings were passed around during our ceremony for our family members to bless.
Where did you go on your honeymoon? I am sure it was nice to relax after all your planning!
We didn’t go on a honeymoon! We had a short engagement (6 months) and we were saving for a house. Hopefully for our 1-year we will take a special anniversary trip.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful micro-wedding and big love with us, Elizabeth and Brandon!
