Celestial Inspired Family Elopement

Elopements and Microweddings are most common this year, as we all know. However, this elopement had a unique and special twist that was so so sweet. Kit and Shawn entered a giveaway that would gift them a full elopement, styled and complete with vendors. We can’t think of a sweeter little family to receive this celestial inspired elopement gift. The theme was executed perfectly.

We asked the photographer and concept creator, Renee Dee Photography, of the giveaway to share her inspiration:

When I was brainstorming an idea for a giveaway, I knew I wanted to do something unique. I’ve always had a love for astrology & astronomy and all things celestial, so merging these themes with this giveaway came naturally.

There was a moment when I questioned whether or not having such a niche theme would be a good idea for a giveaway. Was this too…weird? Were there enough people out there who would fall in love with this theme like I did?

Thankfully, Alisa Tongg, our celebrant and host of the gorgeous ceremony space, Promise Ridge, encouraged me to follow my heart and go all-in with the moon vibes theme. And I’m so glad we did! All of the vendors did a phenomenal job making this the most magical elopement for our adorable, sweet, and absolutely perfect couple.

How did you meet?

We met online, had our first date walking around Fairmount Park and Philadelphia, and dated long distance for about a year!

What was your proposal like?

We literally said to each other, let’s get married!

What was your favorite design detail?

The entire boho, celestial moon design concept that Renee created was so dreamy!

What surprised you?

How incredible the venue truly was, it’s like a woody, mountain escape!

What was your favorite moment of the wedding day (if you had to pick just one)?

The ceremony was so well written and personalized to us! It made it so very special!

What made you cry?

Seeing my husband in his suit waiting for me at the altar! I lost it, and the tears kept coming!

What was going through your mind when you saw your significant other for the first time that day?

I just felt so many butterflies and so much happiness that I was marrying him!

Leading up, what moment was most important to you?

The vows were the most important for me, I wanted to really express all of my love and devotion to him and Alisa, the officiant helped with some cool blog posts she wrote on how to write vows!

What moment was most important for you to have captured by the photographer?

I’d say the walk up the aisle and his face in that moment and our vows/vows to our daughters! The moments where you could feel the emotions in the air!

What was something unique that you did?

The whole experience was unique, we were gifted this wedding because I entered a giveaway on Instagram! How crazy is that?! We had two weeks to plan this incredible day and somehow everyone pulled it off and made it magical! The experience was created by amazing people who wanted to gift a couple with a dream wedding and we were so lucky to receive that gift!

What was most helpful in the planning process?

Renee and the vendors did all the work for us, she checked in and told us what we needed to do and it was so helpful!

What would you do differently?

Absolutely nothing! This was an incredible experience!

What advice would you give to couples who are currently in the planning process?

I loved the way we did this, eloping was the best thing we’ve ever done! We were in the process of planning a wedding for next year when we won the giveaway, and I was already feeling so stressed about finding all the right things and having the right amount of people! I never wanted the stress of making the day amazing for everyone else to overcome the reason for the wedding in the first place, getting to marry my best friend! Also rent props! Have a cool seating area, some fancy china, some awesome accent pieces to decorate your wedding, it was amazing and it really created a unique experience!

What made you laugh? Did you have an unforgettable funny moment?

When we tasted the cake, the look on his face because it was so good, he makes me laugh all the time but that was amazing!

What was most helpful on the day of the wedding?

I took some time for myself and I know brides don’t always have a chance to do that, I just reflected on the beauty of the day and on how amazing everything felt! It helped my nerves a lot!

What was something fun that you did with your wedding party?

My best friend came to be with me on my wedding day and we sat together and did our makeup and hair like when we were younger and it was so much fun!

What is something you wished someone would have told you in preparation for your wedding day?

It’s going to feel like a whirlwind and you’re not quit going to breathe until the officiant says “I now pronounce you”. After she said that I could relax and really have fun!

Do you have any additional thoughts or comments you would like to share?

We had a beautiful experience, I had been looking at Promise Ridge as a venue to book, and I can’t believe our luck! The vendors that we had were not just people doing a job, they were people creating a dream world for us! They were so friendly and kind, all of our interactions with them were so genuine and kind! Every bride and groom should have not just a wedding but an amazing experience! Unforgettable!
