With a stunning rustic barn filled with fresh greenery and florals, Andrew and Ashley had a breathtaking September wedding. We are so happy to celebrate them, and hope it inspires you!
How did you meet?
Andrew and I met through an online dating service. A few of our friends had met their significant others that way and we both decided to give it a try!
What was your proposal like?
The proposal was very sweet and thoughtful. Andrew proposed on the steps of our home and included my sister and her fiancé to take photos and video. We then went out to dinner and when we returned home our family was there waiting to celebrate with us.
What made you cry?
I think I cried twice that day. The first time was in the Bridal Suite after we had gotten dressed. My Maid of Honor, Bridesmaids, Mom and Aunt were waiting for the ceremony to start and we all had a moment where we cried happy tears. The women in that room are some of the most important people in my life, and it was an emotional moment. The second time I cried was when my sister, who was my Maid of Honor, gave her speech. Her words meant so much to us.
What would you do differently?
I wouldn’t do anything differently. That day was truly one of the best days of our lives and we enjoyed every moment.
What made you laugh? Did you have an unforgettable funny moment?
I can’t remember one specific moment, I feel like I smiled and laughed the whole day!
What was your favorite moment of the wedding day (if you had to pick just one)?
If I had to pick just one moment, it would be our “first look” moment. I never thought we would want to do a first look, but I’m so happy that we did. The day goes by so quickly, and that is a moment that I will remember forever. It was just the two of us taking a moment for ourselves.
What was going through your mind when you saw your significant other for the first time that day?
I was thinking how lucky I was to find such an amazing person to spend my life with, he also looked very handsome.
What was your favorite design detail?
I loved so many details about our wedding. I would have to say I loved our flowers. They were just so beautiful. I also loved the back of my dress, the detail there was amazing.
Leading up, what moment was most important to you?
Leading up to the day I just wanted to make sure everything was in place and everyone knew time schedules so that the day would go off without a hitch.
What was most helpful on the day of the wedding?
It was helpful to have the Barn Swallow team making sure that everything ran smoothly for us. They made sure everything was timed perfectly and that helped to keep me stress-free and enjoy the day.
What was most helpful in the planning process?
The thing we found most helpful was the vendor list that Barn Swallow Farm provided us. If they were willing to vouch for a business, we felt comfortable having them as part of our wedding day.
What was something unique that you did?
We made a lot of our wedding day items ourselves. For example, we made our programs and some of the signs we had at the wedding. It gave it that personal touch.
What surprised you?
The rain that came during the ceremony. I never thought it would rain on our wedding day, but it did.
What advice would you give to couples who are currently in the planning process?
Don’t stress too much. Enjoy planning together and make it fun. Everything will work itself out that day, so don’t worry about the things you can’t control.
What is something you wished someone would have told you in preparation for your wedding day?
I would just share something that someone actually did tell us and it was great advice. “Take a moment for just the two of you”. And we did just that.
What was something fun that you did with your wedding party?
Our wedding party was AWESOME! They seemed to click immediately and when it came time for their entrance they came in doing the “Philly Special”.
What moment was most important for you to have captured by the photographer?
All of our photos are very precious to us, and we truly love them all. However, we did want to make sure that Maggie captured all of our family and friends in one photo, so we did a group shot before the dancing began.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
I am sure it was nice to relax after all your planning! We went to Aruba for a week. It was beautiful and just what we needed to relax.
