How did you get started in this business?

I started learning Modern Calligraphy while I started a new job in San Francisco. I was super stressed out because this job was a start-up, and as such, I wore many different hats. I worked endless hours and I needed a creative outlet. Practicing Modern Calligraphy brought me such joy in my life that I practiced all the time. At one point, I opened my Etsy shop and people liked what I had to offer. A couple of years later, I quit my job and started Paperloveme as a full-time job.

What is one of your hobbies?

Since I have upgraded Modern Calligraphy to my business/hobby. I am currently sewing and sketching for fun. I am making my own wedding dress for my wedding in September, so hopefully, it comes handy!

What is your favorite part of a wedding?

I love the fact that at a wedding, all your best friends and family members are together in one place. They travel from afar or near to see you complete a big milestone in your life. All the planning and small touches are done so your guests feel special and enjoy seeing you so happy. I love adding those touches on place cards, itineraries, etc. However, creating a unique and one-of-a-kind invitation set for the couple brings me so much joy. Putting who they are and what they feel on an invitation for their guests to see is priceless.

What song/music is in heavy rotation for you right now?

I usually like upbeat music. I will be listening to pop music. Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars are definitely my jam.

What is your favorite movie and/or book genre?

I love every single movie from Sandra Bullock, so it is super hard to choose one.

I love reading memoirs. It is fascinating to me to learn about how people’s upbringing shaped them as adults.

What is your best advice for a couple planning their wedding?

It’s never too early to book your vendors. I am a vendor and also a bride, and even though I always encourage my brides to book vendors early in the planning, I procrastinated a little. Even though my wedding is 9 months from now, some vendors I wanted are already booked. So as long as you know the style of wedding that you want, you don’t need all the details in order to book vendors. You just need to like their style and make sure it matches with your’s.

What brought you to the Lehigh Valley?

My fiance grew up in the Lehigh Valley. We met in San Francisco and we wanted to buy a property before getting married, so we decided to move to Bethlehem. We have been in the Valley since May 2018, and we are loving it.

What is your favorite season and why?

Fall. Foliage has the most beautiful colors.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love spending time with my fiance.

What is a common mistake you see couples make while planning a wedding?

A lot of couples don’t choose a style of what they want their wedding to be and they book vendors without having a vision. At the end when all comes together the design is not cohesive and they feel disappointed because it wasn’t quite what they expected it to be.

What do you wish couples knew about your part of the wedding industry?

Handwriting is hard. It requires dedication, discipline and hard work. Some people take it for granted because “everyone can write,” but handwriting calligraphy is really a  beautiful art and skill that deserves recognition.

What is your fondest wedding memory-either from your wedding, if you are married, or from a wedding you attended?

I love statement pieces. Whether they are seating signages, favors, the dress, or a dance they made up, I love when couples make something that identifies them and is unique to themselves.

What are some of your favorite aspects of your business?

I get to know people. Working for your own business can be lonely. Getting to know couples and peers is definitely the cherry on the cake for me.

What is the best way for a couple to prepare to meet with you?

All we need is a phone call or a coffee date to go over what they have in mind. We will work together to come up with the design during the process, but in the beginning, all we need is to know that they like my style so we can be a good match.

Is there anything else you would like our couples to know about you/your business?

I love pleasing every single client that works with me. Everything I make is one-of-a-kind and unique to them. It is handcrafted and made locally.
